Dieselicious

Okay, I just want to tell you how absolutely in love with Vin Diesel I am right now.

I know, I know. Some of you are remembering how preoccupied I was with Orlando Bloom for the last couple of years. But, I mean, really, Orlando is such a "pretty boy." No muscle, no substance. And besides, how likely is it that I would meet a movie star who lives in England?

Vin Diesel is...I almost want to say perfect, but can't really as I don't know him. But he sure is nice to look at. Chronicles of Riddick came out on DVD last week. I've seen it twice now, and I re-watched Pitch Black, Fast and the Furious, and XXX. Saving Private Ryan was on TV on Veterans Day, and watched that until the part where he dies. I still have to re-watch Boiler Room, Man Apart, and Knockaround Guys (although I didn't really like that last movie, and he doesn't have a major role, so I may skip that one). And I have never seen the cartoon flick, The Iron Giant, and so will have to watch that one.

Part of Vin's charm is his voice. It's a great voice. I could just listen to him all day. I really wish he would do some sort of tape book thing. That would be wonderful.

My brothers laugh at me because of my little fixation (I am NOT obsessed). But it is nice to daydream.
hmmm, mmm he's good-lookin'!

No One Died

Day One - Thursday, 11 November 2004 - My dad, brothers, and I leave bright and early at 7am. I am shoved into the back, not allowed to take the first two driving shifts because I worked until 3:30 the night before. My father drives, my youngest brother, Brandon, drives, then I drive, then my dad drives again. We spend the night in Savannah.

Day Two - Friday, 12 November 2004 - We leave Savannah at the crack of dawn and drive to Orlando. We hadn't needed to leave Savannah as early as we did, and so waste time for an hour before my mother's plane arrives at the airport. We pick Mum up from the airport, do some shopping (can I tell you how weird it is to see a Salvation Army bell-ringer ringing the Christmas "Give-Us-Money" bell when it's 80 degrees), and head to the time-share. Have a small argument with middle brother, Richard, about bed situation. I, of course, get my way, and everyone is happy.

Day Three - Saturday, 13 November 2004 - We sleep in. 'Tis wonderful. My parents and brothers decided to go to the ocean over by the Gulf of Mexico. I don't like sand, and therefore, don't like beaches, and DEFINITELY need some away time from family type people, and so stay at the time-share.

Day Four - Sunday, 14 November 2004 - Go to a Church of God church in Orlando. They are rebuilding due to their hurricane "friends," but normally have a four thousand seat auditorium. They are a "Performing Arts" Church. Was kind of cool...Until the Pastor started speaking, and her theology was all wrong. We leave.

Day Five - Monday, 15 November 2004 - Magic Kingdom Day. Magic Kingdom is nice. We had fun. There is a little boat ride one can take through the "jungle." Hilarious ride. They have some of the best puns ever in their script for their tour guide people. The middle of the day parade was cool too. I was sitting up near the front, and these two little girls came along and sat beside me. They were from England, and so had great British accents. It was fun to listen to them jabber on about Cinderella, Goofy, and Mickey. Their names were Minnie and Elsa. I don't think the parade would have been quite as fun if they had not been there.

Day Six - Tuesday, 16 November 2004 - (At work today Elf, and Chronicles of Riddick both came out on dvd...glad I wasn't there!) Epcot Day. Epcot was so much more relaxed then Magic Kingdom. It was nice. No one was pushing, everyone was taking their time. It was enjoyable. Walked around the world, watched some cute sidewalk shows, nice day.

Day Seven - Wednesday, 17 November 2004 - Took the day off from parks. Lazed around the time-share. Went swimming, took naps, watched some movies. That evening went to a dinner-theater, kind of like Medieval Times. It was called Arabian Nights. It was cool. Lot of horse tricks, and good-looking men showing off their chests :).

Day Eight - Thursday, 18 November 2004 - MGM day. This was an okay park. The BEST part was their Fantasmic show at night. If you have never been, it is an absolute must see. I was entranced the whole way through. Amazing.

Day Nine - Friday, 19 November 2004 - Head back home. Mum gets on her airplane, Da, Richard, and Brandon, and I drive to just south of Charlotte. Stay the night.

Day Ten - Saturday, 20 November 2004 - I drive from Charlotte to home. We leave at 8am get home around 4pm. Not a bad day. Oh! It's my youngest brother, Brandon's eighteenth birthday...Everyone say Happy Birthday!!!! And Michigan played Ohio State...Ohio State won.

That's my vacay in a nutshell. I didn't kill anyone, aren't you all impressed?

In General

Aside: So I did not know that my blog was set up not to accept anonymous comments. That has been remedied. Come one and all!

The Church of the Nazarene is set up in such a way that areas around the world are separated by geographical location. These little separate areas are called Districts. Each district has its own superintendent. All of the districts within the church are under the direction of 6 General superintendents.
It just so happened that last Sunday was Circleville Church of the Nazarene's (the church I attend) 75th anniversary. Our District superintendent was there, as well as one General superintendent. I was introduced to the General superintendent (Dr. Biddendorf), he found out I was looking for a church, and he asked for a resume.

How exciting is that!!!! A General superintendent HAS my resume. Now, not that I think that anything will actually come of this, because he doesn't have a lot of contact on the local church level...but hey! I will take whatever I can get.

Am leaving on Thursday morning for my first trip ever to Disney World. CANNOT wait. It is going to be sooooo much fun.
My dad is taking his laptop with him, so if I have anything interesting to post...like I met the man of my dreams near the castle thing, I will let you know :)

A Little Bit of Romance

Being done with my MA program, I have taken time off from reading "real" books, and have been reading "fluff."
I like "fluff" reading. LOVE it, actually, but am sure it is time for me to be focusing on some type of research project to present at various conferences and whatnot.

But here is the topic for today.
I am reading historical fiction romances at the moment. Not the tawdry, torrid romances where it's all sex, but the ones that have to do with ROMANCE. I have a tendency to choose the ones that take place in England usually between the time of the Tudors and the Hanovers (the Henry's through the George's).
The only problem with me reading these books, is that my overactive imagination takes over, and begins to envision certain situations ACTUALLY taking place...or some derivation of.
I begin to wish that I lived in an era where showing my ankles would be risque, where if I were kissed by some stranger, I might be forced into marriage, where my honor would be defended by a rapier. Ahhhh, wouldn't it be loverly?

So my imagination has been making up this story of late. When I'm driving, or trying to fall asleep, or don't have something else on my mind, I pick up this storyline. It's about me, driving home. It's not dark out quite yet, but the sun has definitely set, and a deer crosses the street in front of me, I swerve to miss it, and hit a rolls royce. The chauffeur gets out of the car to berate me, and then this AMAZING man gets out of the back...
I haven't quite gotten much further, and I won't describe the man, because every woman has a different taste...but hmmmm, GORGEOUS!!!!

Anyway, lot happening in my life of late, that I will post about soon.
